August 16th & 17th 2008 is International Lighthouse Weekend. The event is to promote public awareness of lighthouses and lightships and their need for preservation and restoration, to promote amateur radio and to foster International goodwill.
Over the past 10 years it has grown to include participants in over 380 lighthouses in some 51 countries around the world.

News & Media : Fellow Ham killed in Toronto propane explosion
A firefighter who was killed early Sunday morning in a Toronto propane explosion was Bob Leek, VE3TFD. Mr. Leek was a district fire chief with Toronto Fire Services, and was a member of Radio Amateurs of Canada, the South Pickering Amateur Radio Club and Durham Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES). Funeral and memorial arrangements have not been publicly announced. We would like to extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.

I am pleased to present the new web site for The 3730 Group. I'll probably be tweaking the layout and design for the next little while, but my hope is that any changes are going to be fairly minor so I think it's pretty much ready for prime time!

Conditions on 80 have been quite poor for the last few weeks, but remember we try to be there regardless of the band being good, bad or ugly... just remember if you can hear us, we can probably hear you!

Please note, we have had to adjust a little bit. While we intended to be on 3.730 MHz each evening, long conditions on 80 meters recently have caused us to interfere with the BC Public Service Net on 3.729 MHz.
