Amateur Radio All radio amateurs in Canada are encouraged to use the upcoming 'Special Event Prefixes' to commemorate the founding of the Crown Colony of British Columbia in 1858. These special prefixes are valid between October 1st, 2008 and November 30th, 2008.

 Contests & Events : Slow Scan TV from the Space Station
Amateur Radio On October 12th, 2008 Richard Garriott, W5KWQ will be launched towards the International Space Station from the Baikonur Cosmodrome. It was announced at the ARISS meeting in August that plans are for Richard to have SSTV equipment on board in order to experiment with sending images from the ISS.

Amateur Radio DX Magazine has opened its 2008 survey for the most wanted DX entities, and is looking for your input.

Each year the magazine publishes a breakdown of the top 100 most needed entities, first sorted by continent, then by mode.

Entries are due by October 15th, 2008.

 Regulatory : New RAC HF Bandplan
Amateur Radio Radio Amateurs of Canada has finally released their new band plan for 160m-10m. The new plan is more in line with the International Amateur Radio Union (IARU) band plan for our region than the previous band plan was.
