 Contests & Events : Field Day 2009 Surf and Turf Details
3730 Group Our Surf and Turf Supper will be held on Saturday evening June 27/09.
The same dinner deal (surf and turf) as last year will be offered. Prices: $12 for lobster, $8 for steak. Please place your order with VA3RDC no later than 15 June. There is a pot luck component for the surf-and-turf dinner. Diners are requried to bring some food (desserts, veggies, salads, whatever) to share for 4 people per diner (so if there's two of you coming, enough food for 8).

 Contests & Events : M.A.R.G. / 3730 Group Field Day 2009
Amateur Radio The Manotick Amateur Radio Group will be having Field Day again this year at Long Island Marina (1424 Commodore Lane in Kars, ON K0A 2E0. Take 416 South to Roger Stevens Drive -- Head east into village of Kars, follow signs for Long Island Marine.

M.A.R.G. FIELD DAY signs will be posted as well.

Setup will start Friday afternoon June 26, 2009 after 2:30pm.
Operating starts at 2pm Saturday June 27, 2009 and runs until 2pm Sunday June 28, 2009.

Details for the Surf and Turf supper and live music on Saturday evening will follow.

We hope to see you drop by the site and say hello.

Amateur Radio All radio amateurs in Canada are encouraged to use the upcoming 'Special Event Prefixes' to commemorate the founding of the Crown Colony of British Columbia in 1858. These special prefixes are valid between October 1st, 2008 and November 30th, 2008.

 Contests & Events : Slow Scan TV from the Space Station
Amateur Radio On October 12th, 2008 Richard Garriott, W5KWQ will be launched towards the International Space Station from the Baikonur Cosmodrome. It was announced at the ARISS meeting in August that plans are for Richard to have SSTV equipment on board in order to experiment with sending images from the ISS.

Amateur Radio August 16th & 17th 2008 is International Lighthouse Weekend. The event is to promote public awareness of lighthouses and lightships and their need for preservation and restoration, to promote amateur radio and to foster International goodwill.

Over the past 10 years it has grown to include participants in over 380 lighthouses in some 51 countries around the world.
