80 meters nightly at 21:00 ET on or around 3730 Khz
Please join us nightly starting at 21:00 eastern time on the 80 meter band (3730 Khz + or - QRM) for an informal net & roundtable.
The purpose of the group is to promote evening HF operation in eastern Canada. Check-ins are welcome from anywhere in the country (or world for that matter!), and everyone is welcome regardless of age, experience or license class. We even accept check-ins via IRLP on our VE3TST repeater in Ottawa, IRLP node 2210.
The 3730 group & the net were founded by Darrell (VA3RDC) and Mike (VA3MPM) after spending the evenings rag-chewing on 3.730 with other local hams.
The net is open to all topics of discussion, or alternatively if you just want a signal report, or just want to say "Hello" and then move on, that's fine too. We would also welcome some new net controllers! Inquire with us on the air, or contact us if you would like to volunteer.
Note that we may QSY up or down in frequency as required to avoid interference with other nets or QSO's.
Drop in to the 3730 group this week with your boat anchor radio. Conditions have been fantastic! We will be re-visiting our 9:00PM slot very soon. Stay tuned.

1871 / 1721 Group
Keep in mind that when the conditions are rough on 80 Meter during the winter months, You can find us with the 1721 ( 1871.00) 160 meter group after 3730 is over. As you well know the two groups collaborate at the Dayton hamvention and at KC8QGJ's , Kring Point NY yearly event. Listen up for "Chardon Tom" and the crew. This is someone who is committed to the hobby!

Our Surf and Turf Supper will be held on Saturday evening June 27/09.
The same dinner deal (surf and turf) as last year will be offered. Prices: $12 for lobster, $8 for steak. Please place your order with VA3RDC no later than 15 June. There is a pot luck component for the surf-and-turf dinner. Diners are requried to bring some food (desserts, veggies, salads, whatever) to share for 4 people per diner (so if there's two of you coming, enough food for 8).

I am emailing you directly to update you on an important meeting that took place this morning (May 27) with staff from the Ontario Ministry of Transportation in regards to Bill 118. This is the Bill that will make casual cell phone operation in moving vehicles illegal this fall. It could have a serious negative impact on amateur radio use of our mobile radios. Along with representatives from The Toronto FM Society and the Canadian Association of Rally Sport (which uses ham radio extensively) I presented our concerns to a large stakeholders meeting at the Ministry of Transportation in Toronto.

DXpeditions : October 2009 DXpedition to Sable Island
Looking forward to getting this rare one in my log! The planned dates are the 7th to the 14th of October 2009. According to N0TG, (Randy): "Formal authorization to access the island has been received and the team is actively preparing." (source: sgarc). I assume the group will be requesting a call sign soon, as I was not able to find one for this event.
Click on through for more info.
